Using a My Hanover Policy (MHP) account, our clients can easily file and track their claim from their laptop or smartphone.

Once enrolled in MHP, clients can also opt into text updates for their claim, as well as have easy access to their policy documents and information.

2. Information gathering

After a claim is filed, a dedicated marine claims professional will attempt contact within 24 hours of the claim being assigned and gather information such as:

  • Facts of loss
  • Extent of damages
  • Current situation of the claim
  • Any feasible attempts at mitigating further damage to property

Every claim is unique in nature, and once the damage is assessed, an additional investigation or evaluation may be necessary before a resolution is reached.

3. Determination of coverage

The claims professional will review the client's coverage applicable to the claim.

4. Adjustment of the loss

The length of the adjustment period is dependent on the complexity of the case. The adjuster will contact the client explaining the determination of the claim value and answer questions about any portions of the claim that may not be covered by the policy.

Payment options will also be discussed at this point.
